MARYADA

Introducing "Maryada," Be and Make's initiative to spread accurate information and education about menstruation. We aim to tackle 'period poverty' and break the taboos and myths surrounding menstruation across the nation. Our mission is to ensure every girl has the right knowledge, empowering them to embrace this natural part of life with confidence and dignity. Join us in eliminating misconceptions and building a society that is informed and inclusive. Be a part of "Maryada" and help us change the way people think about menstruation, making sure accurate information reaches every corner of the country.

ABOUT MARYADA

Why this initiative?

Every month, 1.8 billion people worldwide experience menstruation. Unfortunately, millions of them—girls, women, transgender men, and non-binary individuals—struggle to manage their periods with dignity and proper care. This widespread issue needs our attention so everyone can experience menstruation with respect and comfort. Our initiative aims to tackle this challenge head

on, providing the necessary information and resources to support menstrual health for all.

ROLE OF MARYADA

We're actively engaging hygiene classes in schools and communities, spreading awareness about periods In an engaging and comprehensive way. But here's the twist: we're not just here to teach; we're here to empower. Through our sessions, we handpick peer leaders who will continue the legacy,

ensuring that accurate knowledge and guidance are passed down to students and other community members. At Maryada, we're smashing taboos and fostering a culture where periods are celebrated, not hidden

MORE ABOUT MARYADA

Be and Make also find ways to deal with “Period Poverty”. Period poverty is a phenomenon when people in the country are unable to afford or have access to basic hygiene products to manage their monthly cycle. In India, there are around 40 crore menstruating women between the age of approximately 14 to 50 years, and out of them, only a few have access to hygiene products. So they are bound to use things like dried leaves, sand, mud, and ash to manage their monthly cycle. And it is a very sad state.

The same is achieved through dialogue and dispensing of correct knowledge in Menstrual Hygiene workshops that are regularly conducted by Be and Make for school students in the rural areas of West Bengal, India.
