In the rural and tribal regions of West Bengal, many families face significant challenges due to poverty, relying on an unstable economy that leaves them vulnerable to unexpected financial hardships. Current economic challenges further exacerbate these issues, deepening the struggle to maintain basic living standards. The "Swayam" initiative by Be and Make seeks to address these financial hurdles by offering comprehensive financial literacy training. This program empowers women and students in these communities across Eastern India, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate their financial challenges more effectively and work towards a more secure future.

ABOUT SWAYAM

Why this initiative?

Many women, especially in rural areas, don't have enough knowledge about managing money management. This makes it hard for them to handle their finances well, plan for the future, or take part in economic activities. Factors like not enough education, cultural norms, and no targeted money education programs make this problem worse. It's important to teach these women about money so they can be independent and secure their financial future.

Purpose of SWAYAM

Swayam aims to empower women by teaching them about money. We want to give them the tools and knowledge they need to manage their money better and plan for the future. When women are financially empowered, it benefits not just them, but their families and communities too.

ROLE OF SWAYAM

Swayam teaches basic money skills like budgeting, saving, and investing. We help women understand debts and how to manage them wisely. We also help them to understand government programs that can support them financially. By doing this, we're giving them the confidence to take control of their finances and build a better future for themselves and those around them.
